Netflix's The Witcher Series Has Officially Begun Casting

This is truly an exciting time to be a fan of CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher series. The upcoming Netflix TV show based on the games has already won most fans over by assembling a star-studded cast of veteran Marvel writers, all of whom are even more excited than we are to see the fruits of their labors on the small screen.

Ever since The Witcher Netflix series was announced last year, fans have speculated as to which actors would best suit the roles of Geralt, Ciri, and the other important characters in the game. Thankfully, it appears that we won’t have to wait much longer to find out who is being cast, as casting is officially “starting soon” according to showrunner Lauren Hissrich. Hissrich made the announcement on Twitter, which can be seen below:

Hissrich starts by stating that casting is beginning soon, at which point she reveals that the writing team has created all new scenes for the main characters to aid in the international search for their cast.  “Normally, when casting a show, the casting director pulls character-specific scenes from the pilot script for actors’ auditions. However, because we’re casting internationally (which means lots of emails and self-tapes) and because we know by now the internet keeps no secrets,” she begins.

“The writing staff has instead created entirely new scenes for our main characters. These are written to illustrate the precise tone, vibe, depth, and emotional resonance we need from Geralt and friends… but voila! They are spoiler-free, for us and for you. Which means if you start seeing Witcher scenes floating around the internet in the coming weeks — yes, they’re probably real! But no, they won’t give anything away as to the stories we’re telling, or the ways we’re telling them. You’re safe. For now.”

This is exciting news, because not only will we likely hear some casting news relatively soon, but chances are we will also see some of the scenes mentioned above within the next few weeks. While Hissrich promises that they will be new scenes and will have nothing to do with the content of the show, it will still be exciting to watch the casting prospects in action. Here’s hoping that we’ll hear some concrete casting news soon!
