The Call of Duty film seems to be closer to becoming a reality than ever before. A Variety report recently shared that Activision Blizzard Studios is in talks with the director of Sicario 2: Soldado, Stefano Sollima, to serve as the Call of Duty film director. Sollima has proven his ability to craft firearm-focused cinematic set pieces, which the Call of Duty series is well known for embodying. Now, Sollima has shared his top choices for big name actors that he would like to see in the lead roles in the film.

Stefano Sollima recently spoke exclusively with Metro about the upcoming Call of Duty project. While he has not been officially accepted as the film’s director yet, he has already selected his hopeful leading actors. It appears that Tom Hardy, the star of this year’s Venom film, and Wonder Woman‘s Chris Pine are his lead choices for potential top billing. He expressed a liking of Hardy’s work by saying, “I mean, I like almost everything [he’s been in]. I’m waiting for his Venom. Even in Mad Max, he was great.”

Sollima also gave his reasoning for preferring Chris Pine for a leading role, saying, “He’s tough, but he’s smart and he can have a sense of humour but he can [also] be in such a dramatic role. I like when you feel that an actor can play with different nuances and tone because this means they’re a good actor.” Both actors recently appeared in recent war-centric films, Dunkirk and Wonder Woman, so Pine and Hardy seem like fitting Call of Duty heroes. We will see soon if Sollima is taken as the film’s director and is gifted these choice actors in a supply drop from the studio.
