‘Assassin’s Creed Dynasty’ Is Next Rumored Title In The Series

Assassin's Creed Dynasty

Gamers typically tend to keep their eyes open for new news on their favorite franchises, and fans of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series have been doing just that ever since Assassin’s Creed: Origins was released late last year. Now that players are enjoying Bayek’s story in the expansive world of ancient Egypt, fans of the series are wondering what comes next in the epic battle between Assassins and Templars. Now, thanks to a new rumor that has popped up, we may now know the title of the next game in the series: Assassin’s Creed Dynasty.

The report in question states that a rumored employee at Technicolor – a company that has done animation work for Ubisoft in the past – let slip that the name of the next Assassin’s Creed game is Assassin’s Creed Dynasty. Technicolor has worked on some pretty big franchises in the past, such as Resident Evil, Call of Duty, and FIFA. As such, a claim from an employee that works there holds water, though rumors should always be taken with a grain of salt.

Speaking exclusively to PlayStation Universe, our source works at Technicolor based in Bangalore on the animation team and claims he is working on the new Assassin’s Creed installment right now.”

With the normal rumor warning out of the way, the name Assassin’s Creed Dynasty has some merit to it. The rumor statement points out that ‘Dynasty’ tends to be synonymous with China, and Ubisoft already has a strong female protagonist poised to take the spotlight in the form of assassin Shao Jun, student of the legendary assassin Ezio Auditore.

Ubisoft has touched on this era in the past with Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China. The platforming game was set in 1526 with the Ming Dynasty starting to crumble, and players took the role of Shao Jun, an Assassin of the Chinese Brotherhood.”

Bringing things back full circle to an assassin that had direct contact with arguably the most well-received assassin in the series would be a very smart move for Ubisoft, one that could reel in older fans of the series that have had a falling out ever since Ezio took his exit. Suffice to say it’ll be interesting if the rumor is true, though not necessarily unexpected. Assassin’s Creed Origins is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

So, thoughts on the newest Assassin’s Creed rumor? Would you prefer to play as Shao Jun, or a completely new assassin?
