Payday 2 For The Switch Awaiting “Go-Ahead” From Nintendo To Bring In Voice Chat

Payday 2 for the Nintendo Switch is now available and though many were excited to play the heist-worthy title on the hybrid platform, many though the game was severely lacking without the necessary voice-chat feature. According to the studio behind the port, Starbreeze Studios promises that this feature is a priority … there’s just a little bit of a hold up.

According to a spokesman that spoke with Kotaku AU, the studio is currently “waiting to be able to participate in Nintendo’s VOIP app solution,” and that as soon as they get the “go-ahead,” its’ a feature that will be making its way onto the Switch platform.

This app is what gives Splatoon 2 players the ability to chat online during multiplayer matches, but so far – that’s the only title that has this capability. Hopefully with the backlash since the launch of the port, the Big N will realise how important this feature is to online gamers and that with the broadening of mature content comes a wider audience expectation. With more and more huge games making their way onto the Switch library, it’s important that Nintendo recognizes the target market with all of these ports they are bringing over.

For now, players will have to rely on their own means of online chat. This also includes the official Discord server by Starbreeze for players to meet up. It’s not the ideal solution, but it looks like a more effective fix is well underway.

What are your thoughts on the most recent port? Did the voice chat feature make or break the game for you? Sound off with your thoughts in the comment section below, and don’t forget to check out DFTG on Twitter for gaming and entertainment news live 24/7!
