Nintendo Switch Now Compatible with Unreal Engine 4 (VIDEO)

The Unreal Engine 4 created by Epic Games is a highly popular game engine with dozens of games created with its tech. You can see it used in titles such as Street Fighter V, Gears of War 4, and more, all of which cover a variety of platforms including Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 4, and now the Nintendo Switch.

Epic Games and Nintendo have collaborated to bring the Unreal Engine 4 to the Nintendo Switch platform and have released the source code to approved creators for free. People have been remaking classic Nintendo games in Unreal Engine 4 for some time now. Games like Mario 64 or Zelda: Ocarina of Time have been remade by dedicated fans into beautiful recreations, some of which are even playable.

Hopefully, with the addition of Unreal to Nintendo’s Switch, console fans will be seeing more and more Unreal games. You can apply to become an approved developer at Epic Games website and if approved, you’ll gain access to the full suite of tools and access to the Unreal Engine 4 Switch developer forum to talk with other creators and developers.
