Divinity: Original Sin 2 Release Date Announced for Fall of This Year (VIDEO)

An official release date for Divinity: Original Sin 2 was recently announced for PC by Larian Studios. Even though the first act has been in the early access stage via Steam for some time now, the rest of the game is expected to launch on September 14th. With it introduces new PvP and game master modes, updated relationship system with companions, and supports cooperative play up to 4 players. Of course, along with news of a finalized debut, the developers are happy to share that there are big changes coming to new areas in early access with a narrative focus. There’s a fair warning of “aquatic monstrosities” and giant tentacles as well, so watch out! For a more personal Kickstarter developer update from Larian, check out the video below:

In a world where the Gods are dead, you play a wielder of forbidden magic, quarantined in the prison colony of Fort Joy. The Magisters of the Divine Order want to “cure” you of your powers. But the Order has secrets of its own. Secrets that threaten everyone. If the world remains godless, chaos will rule. It’s time for a new Divinity.”

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is set thousands of years after the previous game released in 2014. There will be new races and origin stories, freedom of choice, an improved combat system, “darker & deeper story”, new user interface design, and more. It’s safe to say that this is a highly anticipated sequel seeing as the Kickstarter pledge surpassed by well over 500,000 thousand dollars, chalking up to more than 2 million dollars in pledged funds from 42,713 fans. As of now, this will only be available for PC gamers. Larian Studios does hope to see a release for other platforms in the future, but it’s not on the road map quite yet.
