Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Talks Black Ops 2, Future JRPG Plans, Project Scorpio, and More
The “Xboss” Phil Spencer is known for taking fan questions seriously and responding in a timely manner. There are many instances where he will have an impromptu fan meet and greet on his Twitter responding to Xbox users on a variety of questions: backwards compatibility, new titles, new hardware, and more. In the latest burst of Xbox One related tweets, Spencer addressed questions about Japanese games, Black Ops II coming to the backwards compatibility list (it continues to be the number one requested title), the upcoming plans for Project Scorpio, and more. Here’s what the Xbox Boss had to say to fans:
Xbox 360 Games Getting a 4K Upgrade:
360 games are tough as most don't have 4K assets. Nice thing about our recent games is we have 4K assets from PC versions.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) February 19, 2017
Halt on 360 Games Becoming Backwards Compatible:
Licensing for games (like sports games, music games, some racing) can be an issue for a publisher.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) February 19, 2017
Call of Duty: Black Ops II Questions:
We honestly don't know the date for BO2 right now. Not me, not the agents, not the BC team…sorry.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) February 19, 2017
I know all the games in the pipeline for BC, I don't usually know when a 3P game will get approved.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) February 19, 2017
Nah, no shifts. I did see next week's list, looks good. No BO2 before I get bombarded with that ?
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) February 19, 2017
3P – Third Party Hold Up for Backwards Compatibility:
3P (third party) are games from another publisher, like Activision, EA, Ubisoft etc.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) February 19, 2017
JRPGs Coming to Xbox One:
I'll be in Japan next week talking to 3P publishers. It was great getting FFXV, I know people want me to deliver more.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) February 19, 2017
Project Scorpio Line-Up – “Old” Games:
Our games, old and new, have to show why someone would choose Scorpio. I feel really good about our progress on that.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) February 19, 2017
New Crimson Skies:
We aren't doing anything with it right now but setting is very cool, definitely could do more with it.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) February 19, 2017
Avatar Rewards to the Xbox One:
I thought Avatars were a great part of 360 and we kind of lost them in XB1, we should do more with them, things like rewards.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) February 18, 2017
