Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer Finally Released (VIDEO)
As moviegoers have returned to the theater this year, the superhero genre of film continues to be one of the more popular blockbuster genres that entice audiences. While films like Black Widow and The Suicide Squad have performed slightly less than superhero films usually do due to the pandemic, they have still shown that the superhero craze isn’t going anywhere. Perhaps the one film fans have eagerly awaited the most is the third Spider-Man film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has been rumored to see the return of Spider-Man characters from non-MCU films. Now, Sony has released the first Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, and it seems fans won’t be disappointed.
Sony Pictures has released the first Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer on their official YouTube channel. The film seems to follow right after the events of Far From Home, which saw Spider-Man’s secret identity of Peter Parker leaked to the public by Mysterio. This leads to criminal accusations against Parker, as well as complications to for his friends, family and love-interest MJ. As such, Peter goes to Doctor Strange, portrayed once again by Benedict Cumberbatch to serve as Peter’s new mentor figure, to help make the world forget that he is the web-slinger. Unfortunately, Peter’s interruptions lead to Strange’s spell fix going wrong.
Doctor Strange begins to tell Parker about the multi-verse, which many had theorized might come into play with this film, as it will for Doctor Strange’s next film and already has on the Loki and What If? Disney Plus series. Elements of Spider-Man villains from the non-MCU Spider-Man films are then seen, including Electro’s electricity and the Green Goblin’s pumpkin bomb. The connection to these films is absolutely confirmed with a final shot of Alfred Molina returning as his version of Doctor Octopus from the 2004 Ted Raimi-directed Spider-Man film. While Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are not seen in the trailer, fans are hoping they will reprise their versions of Peter Parker as well, to help recreate the classic Spider-Man pointing at a clone of himself meme.
