Cowboy Bebop Netflix First Images Unveiled, Release Date Announced
Netflix has done a good job of diversifying the types of content they deliver to subscribers, with anime fans being a particular fanbase that the streaming service has catered to. While Netflix has found much success with original anime series’ like Aggretsuko and Castlevania, their attempts at adapting live-action anime as films have not been as warmly received. Netflix’s live-action Cowboy Bebop series has helped cast an optimistic outlook, with the promise of original director Shinichiro Watanabe and composer Yoko Kanno returning. Now, the first Cowboy Bebop Netflix series images have been unveiled, and it looks so far like a faithful adaptation.
As shared by The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has released its first official images of the live-action Cowboy Bebop series. The newly unveiled images show the series’s three main leads, John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, and Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine. This is the first time seeing the trio in their characters’ live-action costumes, with the trio mostly looking just as they did in the anime series. Spike wears his classic light blue leisure suit, while Jet has his signature metal left arm and flight suit. Valentine’s outfit has the familiar red and yellow color scheme, now with a jacket and skirt added for practicality. We also see Ein the data dog in one image, played accurately to the anime by a real corgi dog.
Some of the locations in the new Cowboy Bebop anime images might also seem familiar to fans. Spike, Jet, and Valentine can be seen sitting on a yellow couch, which is undoubtedly set in the living room of the Bebop spacecraft captained by Jet. Along with these images, Netflix also announced that the series is set to premiere on November 19th. So far the project seems to be staying true to the original source material. With just three months until the premiere, it won’t be long before we see ya later, Space Cowboy.
