As the biggest gaming platforms produce exclusive content to entice gamers to make use of their services, partnership deals are being made left and right. One company that has made exclusivity deals a big strategy for their success has been Epic Games. A report from earlier this year proposed a big deal between Epic Games and Remedy Entertainment, the developer behind the Quantum Break and Alan Wake series. Reportedly, the Remedy partnership would produce two new games exclusively for the Epic Games store. Now it appears that the first game in that deal is in development, with past rumors pointing towards the project being an Alan Wake sequel.

Remedy Entertainment recently provided a new report for their investors on their official website. The report focuses on the developer’s financial performances for the first half of 2021, with much of the income being tied to their hit newest game Control. The game had been considered by many to be the game of the year for 2019, and the title found new life with a re-release for the latest gaming consoles, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Another big topic of interest was Remedy’s deal with Epic Games, which was referenced with the following statement in the report:

“Remedy’s AAA game project with Epic Games has moved into full production, and a second, smaller-scale game remains in full production mode. Vanguard, our free-to-play co-op game project, is still progressing at a good pace, with selected internal and external closed gameplay tests.”

While this particular release does not itself mention the Alan Wake sequel, the aforementioned report from earlier this year strongly suggested the “AAA game” in development is indeed an Alan Wake follow-up and one of several projects in the works from the company. Between the report and Alan Wake’s inclusion in DLC for Control, a return for the franchise has seemed imminent and likely. Whatever this game ends up being, Remedy has proven its merit several times before, so this game should certainly be a re-aWakening for the company.
