The Mandalorian: Cal Kestis Could Be The Jedi To Answer Grogu's Call

The following contains spoilers for both Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 6: The latest episode of The Mandalorian seriously tugged on one’s heartstrings, with our hero Din Djarin losing both the Razor Crest and Grogu to Moff Gideon and his squad of Dark Troopers. While there’s some hope to be found in Djarin’s new allies, another possibility is that Grogu successfully reached out through The Force while atop the Seeing Stone and called for the aid of Cal Kestis, who was introduced in last year’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

For those unaware, Cal Kestis is, like Grogu, a survivor of Order 66. Cal Kestis is a skilled Jedi Knight with his own ship and crew by the end of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, with the story left open for a potential sequel from the folks over at Respawn Entertainment. Given his strong connection to The Force and having also gone through the traumatizing events of Order 66, it’s quite possible that Grogu more easily linked with Cal Kestis when he reached out from the Seeing Stone on Typhon. This in turn could lead to the live-action introduction of the Jedi Knight, who was rather conveniently modeled after and voiced by established actor Cameron Monaghan. Based on the timeline Cal Kestis would be in his early 40’s during the events of The Mandalorian, so they’d really only need to age the actor 10-15 years to keep things consistent.

One of the only real hurdles to this possibility is that Jon Favreau and company could be leaning more towards pulling characters from The Clone Wars. We already saw Ahsoka Tano’s brilliant live-action debut in Episode 5, so bringing yet another character from the show – say, Ezra Bridger – would be significantly easier to pull off, especially since the character’s source material has been around a lot longer than Cal’s. Even so, it would be wonderful to see Cal make the jump to live-action so quickly after being introduced to Star Wars canon.

The Mandalorian is now streaming exclusively on Disney+.
