Suikoden Spiritual Successor ‘Eiyuden Chronicle’ Announced By Original Developers
The Suikoden franchise was quite the cult classic back in the early 2000’s. The JRPG took a unique path to storytelling by overlapping multiple storylines over each other across several different games in a single concurrent world. Now, a new JRPG is set to go into a Kickstarter phase soon from the original core developers called Eiyuden Chronicle that aims to act as a spiritual successor to Suikoden.
The Kickstarter for the upcoming Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes was recently announced by developer Rabbit & Bear, who stated that the title would be a collaboration between Yoshitaka Murimaya and Junko Kawano, both of whom worked on the original Suikoden. The upcoming title will feature a 6 character battle system and a rich story filled with over 100 characters all intertwined with each other.
The Kickstarter for Eiyuden Chronicle is set to begin today, July 27th, and will run until August 28th. The launch of the game itself is expected to arrive sometime in the Fall of 2022 for PC, with stretch goals on Kickstarter for releases onto the Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. At the time of writing the Kickstarter project has already passed its initial goal of $509,713 by a significant amount. If nothing else it seems that fans are certainly excited to see a wonderful new take on the traditional JRPG genre.
