Hideo Kojima Reportedly Not Very Interested In Silent Hills Project
It looks like the potential holy trinity that is Sony, the Silent Hills franchise, and Hideo Kojima may not be happening after all. News about a rumored Silent Hills reboot has continued to swirl about since earlier this year, with one of the more recent reports suggesting that Sony may be looking to acquire the rights to the franchise from Konami in a bid to have Hideo Kojima work on a new game. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to work for Kojima, who appears to not be particularly interested in working on a new Silent Hill game.
The report comes by way of Dusk Golem, one who is considered to be a reliable industry insider. According to the Resetera user, Hideo Kojima has received more than one offer for his next project, and as such it looks like he’s moreso leaning towards creating something new rather than retreading old ground.
While it isn’t particularly shocking to hear that Kojima would rather work on his own thing than on a franchise where his work wasn’t particularly appreciated, Dusk Golem doesn’t offer up any additional info or proof to verify the above. As such, it is important to take all this with a massive grain of salt. We’ve heard from Kojima numerous times now that he’s looking to work on a new horror game, so him working on a new Silent Hill game is by no means completely out of the picture. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
