Amazon Reportedly Announcing New Game Streaming Service Soon

The launch of Google Stadia hasn’t quite turned out as expected, with issues preventing Google from fully delivering on promises such as the quality expected for games like Destiny 2. Still, the cloud-based gaming service has given players a small glimpse into what the future of gaming could be and it’s an enticing prospect, one that other companies may start to follow. Amazon, in particular, looks to be the next potential company to join the cloud gaming market.

It was rumored earlier this year that Amazon was set to bring their own take on cloud gaming though there was never any real confirmation of this happening. Now a new report has surfaced, claiming that Amazon has been picking up various personnel with live-streaming experience to help with the launch of this rumored service as well as some new hires that will help on another gaming-related initiative. The post also mentions some job listings that indicate that the company wants to “drive innovative new use cases like machine vision and game streaming.”

There still hasn’t been any official words from Amazon on the matter but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the company take a stab at cloud gaming. They already own Twitch, so they’re familiar in a sense with streaming services as far as gaming is concerned. The post indicates that the team at Amazon is set to announce their cloud gaming service sometime next year, though there’s no word on exactly when.
