3 Call Of Duty Games Still Coming To PlayStation, Says Report

Call of Duty Games

The biggest story in the gaming industry that has had everyone talking lately has been the intended acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft. Should this deal be approved by the US government, it would mean that Microsoft would own hit franchises like Overwatch and Crash Bandicoot. Coming after their acquisition of Bethesda, many have wondered which of Activision Blizzard’s games might become Xbox-exclusive in the future, especially mega-popular games like the Call of Duty series. Now, a new report has indicated three Call of Duty games will still come to PlayStation consoles in the future.

A new report by industry insider Jason Schreier was recently released by Bloomberg regarding the future of games in the works at Activision Blizzard, in light of the Microsoft acquisition proposal. According to Schreier, at least three of the next Call of Duty games will still come to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in the future. Four different sources with close knowledge of the Microsoft deal stated that the company would still honor the previously-made agreements with Sony to make COD games for PlayStation, even if the Microsoft deal goes through.

Call Of Duty Vanguard

Of these three Call of Duty games, one of them is said to be this year’s Call of Duty annual release, which is rumored to be a continuation of the Modern Warfare series by Infinity Ward. The other two games are likely a Treyarch-developed project and another described as a follow-up to the free-to-play Call of Duty Warzone. As for COD games that will follow these three, the sources are not yet sure if they will be Xbox-exclusive. For now, it seems like it will depend on how soon the Activision Blizzard acquisition can be completed. For now, COD fans on PlayStation can rest easy knowing their favorite shooting action will still have a home on PlayStation for the time being.
