Sony and Netflix Announce Stranger Things PSVR Game (VIDEO)

Stranger Things PSVR

Currently, everyone and their grandmothers are frothing at the mouth over the latest season of Stranger Things on Netflix. The hype leading up to the new season has given the hit sci-fi series reason to cross over into the world of video games, which seems like a natural fit for the residents of Hawkins, Indiana. A mobile RPG game based on the show was recently released, and new Stranger Things content has been brought to the world of Minecraft. Now, Sony and Netflix have announced a new Stranger Things PSVR game that will bring PlayStation 4 owners into the world of the Upside Down.

Sony has announced this new project to be produced in conjunction with Netflix, and has released the game’s teaser trailer on the official EU PlayStation YouTube channel. The trailer shows the iconic wall in the Byers family’s living room with the alphabet painted over it and Christmas lights adorned beneath each letter. The lights under the letters “P S V R” then consecutively blink, letting fans know that the world inhabited by Mike, Eleven and the Gang will indeed be arriving to Sony’s virtual reality platform. The trailer then confirms this by saying Stranger Things the VR Experience is coming soon to PSVR, though no specific date is given.

Sony has acknowledged that this VR experience will take PSVR owners into the Upside Down version of Hawkins, Indiana, although the trailer would imply that at least some of the experience might take place in the normal version of the town. It is also unknown if any of the cast from the show will be involved in this project, though hopefully Joe Keery reprises his role as Steve Harrington to babysit players throughout the experience, because he is very good at that.
