Valorant Is Being ‘Prototyped’ For Potential Console Release (VIDEO)
While Valorant is currently making some serious waves during its first week as a full release on PC, fans have already begun to wonder whether or not Riot Games plans to release the free-to-play FPS on consoles. Unfortunately, Riot doesn’t really have a cut and dry answer at this time, though the developer has confirmed that the team is at the very least “prototyping” the possibility for the future.
The news comes by way of a recent interview with GameSpot, wherein Valorant Executive Producer Anna Donlon was asked about a potential console release for the game towards the end of said interview. Donlon responded by admitting that the team is considering the possibility of a console release, though there is some uncertainty as to how well the title would translate to consoles. “We are definitely prototyping that right now,” Donlon said.
But there’s a way to play this game and there’s a way to experience this game that we’re not entirely sure translates completely to console play.”
Anna Donlon continues on to say that, despite the mentioned concerns, a console release for Valorant is still a possibility, though it wouldn’t happen right away. “If we were to do it, it’ll definitely be delayed,” Donlon said. Given that Valorant has only been available on PC now for a few days, Riot Games has plenty of time to find its footing and determine the best way forward should there be enough of an outcry for a console release. In the meantime, the game’s first battle pass, titled Ignition: Act 1, is now live.
Valorant is now available free-to-play on PC.
