Uncharted Movie Release Date Pushed Up By Sony, Spider-Man Films Pushed Back
While theater-goers may not be able to see the newest blockbuster hits for a while due to the coronavirus pandemic, gamers will have plenty to look forward to once theaters are reopened. A live action Mortal Kombat reboot has been in production for a while now, and Naughty Dog fans have been paying close attention to the live-action Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland. Given the pandemic shutting theater doors, studios have had to rearrange their production and film release schedules accordingly. Now, it sounds like this has resulted in yet another change for the Uncharted movie release date, but this time for the better, at least for fans.
As reported on The Wrap, Sony Pictures has pushed up the Uncharted movie release date, amidst other film release scheduling changes. Recently, after Sony had to put a hiatus on production of the Uncharted movie due to the pandemic, the release date was changed to October 2021. Well, now, Sony has opted to make the new release date for the film be July 16, 2021. It is believed the Uncharted movie release date was changed mostly due to Sony deciding to now push back the release dates for their third Spider-Man MCU film (also starring Tom Holland), as well as their sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse.
The Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland has now been moved to November 5th, 2021, with its original July 2021 date now going to Uncharted. It should be noted that if the global pandemic continues to make quarantines last longer than currently expected, these release dates may be rescheduled yet again, especially if filming locations remain hotspots or theater chains stay closed longer than expected. Hopefully this is not the case, so Nathan Drake fans can see his exploits as a younger man sooner rather than later.
