Uncharted Movie Loses Director Dan Trachtenberg
The disheartening Tom Holland-related news just keeps coming this week. It looks like the long awaited, highly anticipated Uncharted live-action film has lost yet another director, as it has been revealed today that Dan Trachtenberg has left the Sony lead production, making him just the latest director to exit production since Shawn Levy’s previous departure.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news, also reporting that Sony has already begun to move quickly to secure a replacement for Trachtenberg, with meetings currently underway. Per THR, the Uncharted movie should have a new director by the end of summer, with production on the film slated to begin early next year.
The news comes in what has become a string of saddening Tom Holland-related news, as it was recently reported that Holland’s Spider-Man is no longer a part of the MCU following the breakdown of negotiations between Sony and Disney. The Mouse House approached Sony about splitting the cost of producing future Spider-Man films with Sony, asking for a 50/50 co-financing agreement in an attempt to bargain for more of a profit than Disney was originally receiving on the films. Sony reportedly turned down these terms, and talks have stalled as a result.
It will be interesting to see what Sony does next, both in terms of the Uncharted movie and in regards to the future of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. The important thing to note here is that all eyes are on Sony.
The Uncharted movie begins production early next year.
