New Uncharted Film Trailer Kicks Off An Epic Treasure Hunt (VIDEO)

Uncharted film trailer

Hollywood these days is loaded with projects that seek to bank on pre-existing video game franchise fan bases to show up at theaters to see their favorite games on the big screen. Next year alone, Sonic the Hedgehog is looking to have another successful go at a theatrical movie and Super Mario has his own animated theatrical film as well. Sony has also set its sights on film and television to widen the reach of its PlayStation franchises. Now, Sony Pictures has released their second Uncharted film trailer, which provides an even better look at elements from the games.

Sony Pictures has now released their second Uncharted film trailer on their official YouTube channel. The trailer starts by showing the beginning of the partnership between Nathan Drake and Victor “Sully” Sullivan, portrayed by Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, respectively. It is revealed that the pair seek to find the treasure of Sir Francis Drake, which has been lost for 500 years. Antonio Banderas’s antagonist role as Moncada is also seen, claiming that his character’s family had found the treasure 500 years ago, before being betrayed.

Joining Nathan Drake and Sully on the treasure hunt is Sophia Ali as a young Chloe Frazer, who is seen solving a puzzle safe in-tandem with Nathan using a pair of matching cross relics. These crosses will prove to be a big part of the plot, as Sully and Nathan are seen attempting to take the crosses at an auction through an elaborate heist involving Tom Holland’s signature swift fighting moves. There is also a quick look at a sequence very reminiscent of Uncharted 3, having Nathan Drake clinging to the cargo tailing of a large plane in mid-air.

The Uncharted film trailer also provides a preview of what may be the climactic sequence taking place on dual pirate ships being air-lifted by helicopters, on which Nathan gets into classic swashbuckling action. Lastly, Sully is finally revealed to have his iconic mustache at last, as the trailer gives the film’s release date of February 18th next year. Hopefully, the film proves to be everything fans want, including an end-credits scene with Mark Cerny asking Nathan to join the PlayStation initiative.
