Tomb Raider Sequel Starring Alicia Vikander Confirmed
2018 was a strong year for the Tomb Raider franchise, seeing not only the release of Shadow of the Tomb Raider but a new film that followed inspired by the rebooted video game franchise. Now it appears that Alicia Vikander will be able to once more step into the role, fighting bad guys and recovering lost treasures.
A recent report confirms that a sequel to the rebooted films is now officially in development, though this time around there are a few changes. While Vikander will stay in the role of the main heroine, a new writer has been found in Amy Jump who previously worked on films such as High Rise featuring Tom Hiddleston and Free Fire starring Brie Larson.
As for what kind of story the upcoming film will feature has yet to be revealed. Perhaps they’ll continue the trend of following the rebooted game franchise. As fun as it would be to see a slightly different retelling of Rise of the Tomb Raider, seeing a fresh new story would be equally – if not more -exciting.
The first of the rebooted Tomb Raider films told the story of Lara’s origins as a badass adventurer as well as opened up the door for full string of future movies. Where do you think the franchise will go from here? Let us know your thoughts on Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft in the comments section below.
