Tomb Raider Inferno Details Revealed in Dark Horse First Look

Tomb Raider Inferno

With the reenvisioned Lara Croft set to make her big screen debut next month, fans of the iconic Tomb Raider series are hoping and praying against all odds that this will be the film that breaks the ‘video game movie’ curse. Those looking forward to seeing the movie can also look forward to a new four-issue miniseries titled Tomb Raider Inferno.

Created by Tomb Raider comic alums Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, the pair have decided to do away with their typical globe-trotting antics and instead opt to find the deepest, darkest possible hole and chuck Lara Croft into it. Granted there’s likely a bit more story around it, but Lanzing states that Lara will be seeing “the oldest tomb in the world — a seemingly endless pit that only gets more and more incredible and mysterious the further down you go.” Granted, a tomb can get pretty lonely with just Lara Croft and some dusty skeletons inside it, so Lanzing and Kelly are once again bringing back Croft’s Illuminati-esque enemies, Trinity.

For those looking to catch up on Lanzing and Kelly’s previous Croft comics, Survivor’s Crusade, their previous project, “brought readers into Lara’s long dark night of the soul. Pushing away her friends, her legacy, and her hope for a normal life in the pursuit of bringing down Trinity. We’ve been slowly sharpening the weapon that is Lara Croft,” Lanzing told Polygon in a recent interview. Thankfully for those that would like to start fresh, Dark Horse has stated that Tomb Raider Inferno will be an excellent starting point for new readers. The first of the four-issue miniseries will be available on June 13, 2018.
