New Thor: Ragnarok TV Spot Arrives Called the “Contender” (VIDEO)

Marvel has been on a roll lately, with its James Gunn-lead Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Jon Watts-helmed Spiderman: Homecoming rolling in over four times their budgets and receiving rave reviews.  Looking to the future, Marvel Entertainment is getting us prepped for the arrival of this November’s Thor: Ragnarok with a brand new TV spot, which aired during the NFL kickoff on Thursday Night Football.  Titled the “Contender” spot, the trailer focuses on all the members of the super group Thor is assembling in order to take back Asgard from Cate Blanchett’s character, Hela.  Check out the Thor: Ragnarok TV spot here:

The Thor: Ragnarok TV spot certainly does a good job at hyping up the fans, as it is jam packed with action, explosions, and even a quick shot of Chris Hemsworth’s abs.  Also included in the “Contender” spot is a more light-hearted scene between Thor, Bruce Banner/Hulk, and Valkyrie.  When Valkyrie asks what the name of Thor’s new team will be, he and Banner stumble over some names before Thor almost immediately regrets saying “The Revengers”.  A good try, though it sounds rather similar to a group he and the Hulk are already a part of.

Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, and Tom Hiddleston as the trickster Loki.  Tessa Thompson is Valkyrie, and Jeff Goldblum is the mysterious Grandmaster, whose voice is heard during the first few seconds of the TV spot.  Cate Blanchett plays the terrifyingly evil Hela.  Thor: Ragnarok hammers into theaters later this year on November 3.
