The Witcher Netflix Showrunner Reveals Alternate Ending To Season Finale
The first season of Netflix’s The Witcher was quite successful, combining excellent TV show elements and providing a compelling story all the while setting the series up for a second season that will likely be a huge payoff from all the world building done in season one. One such payoff actually happened at the very end of the last episode of season one of The Witcher, though it originally played out a bit differently. Spoilers for the final episode of Netflix’s The Witcher below.
As revealed by The Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich, the last scene of The Witcher’s season one finale played out differently than what we eventually ended up with. Instead of having Ciri and Geralt running towards each other for a touching embrace, the original plan was for Geralt to look around aimlessly before giving up on Ciri being there, thinking that his instincts were wrong. The rest of the scene plays out as follows:
We made choices through the whole process. Would I change this one? Good question. It’s probably the one I contemplate the most, at night, lying in bed. But here we are. And forward we go, learning every step of the way. I’m not going anywhere. ?

It’s interesting to hear that The Witcher showrunner was tormented the most regarding this particular choice as the changes weren’t that extensive, though given how much time and effort she’s put into the series as a whole, it’s certainly understandable to have second thoughts. Hopefully all the groundwork that’s been laid will help set the series up for an excellent second season.
Netflix’s The Witcher is now available on the streaming platform.
