With the advent of another year of Gamescom, albeit a completely digital one this year, several big games that many have been wondering about have provided updates on their progress this past week. One such game has been The Lord of the Rings: Gollum game by Daedalic Entertainment. As a part of the Gamescom celebration, the first teaser trailer for the game was released, providing the first look at gameplay for the new project. Aside from presenting ideas of the game in action, the devs have now confirmed with this trailer that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Nintendo Switch version will indeed be a reality.

As a part of the Gamescom 2020 digital event, Daedalic Entertainment released a new video on the GamesRadar YouTube channel in tandem with the new Lord of the Rings: Gollum teaser trailer. In the video, project manager Saide Haberstroh provides some commentary and insight regarding to the footage from the recent teaser trailer. The game had already been confirmed for next-generation consoles, namely the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but this new video not only confirmed current generation versions but also a Gollum Nintendo Switch version as well.

The video speaks to how given Gollum’s slender, lanky frame, his character does not exactly lend himself well to straight forward combat. Rather, the game will focus on his stealthy capabilities, as well as the player’s moral choices to lean into the desires of either the Smeagol or Gollum personas. Also confirmed are explorable locations from the Lord of the Rings lore, that may be restricted or accessible based on player choices. With the current generation and Gollum Nintendo Switch versions confirmed, those wishing to hold off on the next generation of consoles for now will still be able to enjoy this new adventure for Gollum. Very precious indeed.
