Sony Is Considering Bringing More First-Party Games To PC

It looks like the folks over at Sony are finally learning that sharing is, in fact, caring. Following the mostly successful release of Horizon Zero Dawn on PC, Sony is now considering porting over other first-party PlayStation exclusives to the PC platform.

The news comes by way of the folks over at IGN, which recently dove into Sony’s corporate report 2020 and uncovered some interesting plans that involve moving more first-party games onto PC. The Sony report states that it will “explore expanding our 1st party titles to the PC platform, in order to promote further growth in our profitability.” The wording is rather open ended, though it’s likely that Sony is looking to port over older titles first, such as God of War.

It’s possible that the Horizon Zero Dawn PC port was used to test the waters in order to see how viable of a strategy it is for Sony to continue porting other first-party games to PC. That particular port was quite successful, with many praising the PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn as the way the game should’ve been when it was first released.

Sony is, of course, thinking about the long term here. If the company manages to garner more interest in its first-party titles using the method mentioned above, it would likely lead to a greater consumer desire for PlayStation products moving into the future. Given what we know about Sony and its penchant for first-party exclusives, the company appears to be setting itself up quite nicely for the next-gen console race.
