Even if you haven’t heard of The Lion’s Song, the trailer for episode two looks captivating. To give you a little insight as to what this game is about, The Lion’s Song plays out the stories of four struggling individuals as they face the realities and hardships of their lives. In the first episode, Silence (which is still free on Steam), Wilma is a talented composer looking for her big break. She travels to the Alps to work through some writer’s block before having an “unexpected encounter” that could change her fate entirely. In episode two, Franz Markert is an aspiring artist that has the ability to perceive flaws in others as “layers” and bring them to life on canvas.
Franz illustrates his very personal view on his models – quite distinctive members of Vienna’s society – as well as his perspective of the world and the time he is living in. Through his work, Franz seeks to uncover not only the layers of others but also his own. His layers, who he has sought his entire life – unable to see, feel or perceive them. Will he be able to impress the critics? Will Franz find himself? And who will help him as the doubts proliferate?
This certainly looks like a beautiful adventure that is sure to capture your attention. What’s even more important is the fact that any decisions you make in previous episodes shape the story’s outcome as you play to the very end, so you have to make sure you choose wisely as you go.
Considering the fact that Silence is free, there’s no harm in giving it a try before downloading the second episode, which runs about $4. Or, if you want to save yourself the trouble, you can download the season pass for all four episodes for $10. This incredible deal lines up perfectly with the latest Steam UK sale, which started on the 22nd of this month. If you’ve gotten some Steam gift cards from Santa this year, this game and many others available online might be next in line to add to your personal library!
