Last of Us HBO series

Deadline has reported on the new The Last of Us HBO series casting news made by Sony and HBO. Gabriel Luna has been cast to play Tommy in the upcoming series. Tommy is protagonist Joel’s brother and a former soldier that holds a more optimistic vision of the world compared to his more pessimistic brother. Tommy plays a crucial role in both the first and second The Last of Us games, so if the series follows the plotline of the games, Luna should be around for more than a season of the show at least.

Luna is perhaps best known for his work as Robbie Reyes, AKA The Ghost Rider, in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. television series, and most recently starred as the main mechanical antagonist of the film Terminator: Dark Fate. Luna also appeared before on HBO in season two of True Detective. No filming dates have been set for The Last of Us HBO series, so it is likely that the show will not premiere until 2022 at the very earliest. Hopefully, filming isn’t too far away, so that the series can arrive before our real world starts developing clickers of its own mutation.
