Psychedelic Platformer ‘The Artful Escape’ Announced, Coming Next Year (VIDEO)
In 2016, publisher Annapurna Interactive and developer Beethoven & Dinosaur announced The Artful Escape, an upcoming 2020 platformer headed to PC, Xbox One, and iOS. Its imaginative and colorful visuals cater to the storyline of Francis Vendetti, nephew to the late folk music legend Johnson Vendetti. Tied together by the main character’s active imagination, players assume Francis’ role as a guitar prodigy for a “multidimensional journey.” Check out the latest trailer that debuted at Microsoft’s X019:
“On the eve of his first performance, Francis Vendetti battles with the legacy of a dead folk legend and the cosmic wanderings of his own imagination,” reads The Artful Escape’s synopsis. “Francis, a teenage guitar prodigy, sets out on a psychedelic, multidimensional journey to inspire his stage persona.”
The Artful Escape does not have a set release date yet, but it’s aimed for next year on Xbox One, PC, and iOS devices. Based on the trailer alone, the game sets itself up to be a platformer that mixes science-fiction and music together for an experience that definitely feels like it was conceived during an inspiring psychedelic trip. Honestly? I’m not mad at that. Bring it on!
