Superman Game From Rocksteady Teased By Game Informer Editor

Superman Game

Rumors of an all-new Superman game from the Batman Arkham-developing wizards at Rocksteady Studios have been circulating the web for a while now. The supposed game is said to retain the free-flowing gameplay and story elements of the Arkhamverse while also bringing on the mentally enhanced supervillain Brainiac to present a truly formidable threat for the Man of Steel. A recent development suggested the unconfirmed Superman game was to be officially unveiled during the upcoming E3 2018 event, as well as an additional feature on the cover of Game Informer magazine.

No, this isn’t a case of deja vu. A variation of this prediction indeed happened back in 2017 as well, with executive editor of GI, Andrew Reiner proceeding to react with laughter to the suggested game. Since this updated rumor came about, it’s no surprise fans would query the idea once more, hoping to confirm or deny the speculated magazine appearance. Reiner’s initial response surprisingly does neither. When presented with an image of the battle-worn hero from Action Comics #1000, he proposes Superman should probably update his wardrobe.

There’s a few different ways one could take this. An optimist could see this response as a coy way of teasing Superman’s impending GI cover introduction. The comment about the Kryptonian needing “a new cape” would definitely seem like a playful way of teasing the rumored superhero game from Rocksteady. Of course, there’s also the pessimistic way of viewing this, which may be the more likely scenario. In response to another fan’s assumption of a “super” reveal, Reiner was quick to deny the notion, but admitted the real cover would be “damn cool” regardless.

With this mystery cover reveal and Warner Bros. teasing two unannounced games before E3 2018, it’ll be interesting to see what ends up being the case, whether it be an Arkhamverse Superman game or not. Perhaps it won’t even be a new title featuring the Man of Steel, but a relatively older one in NetherRealm Studios’ DC hero brawler Injustice 2. With the future of popular game subject to numerous teases/trollings, it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for a fourth Fighter Pack DLC to present itself in some way. As always, we’ll just have to wait and see.

What do you think? Are you convinced Game Informer will be debuting Rocksteady’s rumored Superman game in July, or will the title be one of WB’s surprise unannounced projects?
