Rocksteady’s Rumored Superman Game May Be Unveiled Soon

Rumored Superman Game

The Batman Arkham franchise is definitely over, but developer Rocksteady Studios may not be finished with the DC universe just yet. According to a rumor circulating for the last few months, Rocksteady has been secretly heading work on an ambitious new Superman project, one that would introduce many new gameplay mechanics and see the genocidal genius Brainiac step into the villain role. While the Superman game has continued to be unconfirmed, a formal reveal may finally be happening soon if yet another leak is to be believed.

The new rumor comes from a supposed leak on 4chan (via WWG) where the poster disclosed several details about how the game will be revealed. One of which highlights the magazine Game Informer as to where the rumored Superman game will be revealed as the cover story for July 2018. That won’t be all, as the unannounced title will supposedly drop first during Microsoft’s E3 presentation, debuting both the game’s existence and some crisp Xbox One X enhanced gameplay.

As for what the Superman gameplay could look like, a conclusion can be drawn based on a few details we’ve heard before. We know Brainiac is the big bad this time around and as we saw in Injustice 2, the character’s drone army likely wouldn’t be too far away in an invasion of Metropolis. Superman’s combat has been previously compared to the furious battles seen in Dragon Ball Z, and that fighting style would seemingly suit the super-powered Kryptonian well.

One inclusion that may be of note is an apparent website (SupermanGame.com), that upon visiting, points to a blank page. The leaked 4chan post claims the website will go live following the Superman title’s official unveiling. As of now, there hasn’t been word of a Superman game from Rocksteady, which might require fans to take this leak with a few grains of Kryptonite. This is especially true as the game had been previously rumored for a Game Informer cover back in 2017, to which the magazine’s editor responded with laughter.

Still, a Superman game isn’t too out of the realm of possibility. Rocksteady has definitely been working on something during the last year or so, as evidenced by a tease back in February. Microsoft’s promise of a big E3 presentation also lends itself to this super-sized rumor, but we won’t know if it’s true until the Xbox event begins on June 10th.

What do you think? Are you intrigued by the idea of a Rocksteady-developed Superman game, or is this all just another false leak from 4chan?
