StarCraft Remastered Gets a Release Date, Price Point, and is Now Available for Pre-Order
For fans of real-time strategy games, one title always comes to mind as the flagship game for excessive amounts of playtime. That being said, StarCraft is getting a remastered edition of the title after previous speculation of its release, allowing gamers the chance to relive the fantasy of the story in up to date graphics and enhanced mechanics. StarCraft Remastered was announced for a release back in March, but no additional word had been given on the subject since. Now, the title is slated for a release on August 14th and will also include the Brood Wars Expansion.
Alongside the native widescreen aspect ratio and 4K support being updated for the remastered edition, all the artwork and visual assets have gotten the HD treatment to bring it to the highest level possible graphically. The option to swap between familiar graphics and HD visuals by pressing F5 is also a part of the remastered edition, making the transition incredibly easy for players mid-game. Finally, all the audio and voice overs has been redone as well to 44Hz for a higher sound quality all around.
With all these updates, it is natural to believe that the gameplay may have been affected by the remastered edition. Blizzard has assured that the gameplay itself was not altered at all, so players of the original copy of StarCraft can match up with those who have purchased the remastered edition. Where this differs between editions is that with the updated matchmaking system, original and remastered players can’t sync up because the original simply doesn’t have that updated tool. This leaves those utilizing the new features to be matched up purely by skill.
StarCraft Remastered will be launching on August 14th for PC consoles and is now available for pre-order for players looking to get back that nostalgic feeling. It is currently priced at $14.99 at Bliazzard’s shop.
