Star Wars: Squadron Officially Announced, Trailer Coming Soon

This one’s for all the fans of the old Rogue Squadron games from way back when. Electronic Arts has officially announced its new starfighter game called Star Wars: Squadrons. The title leaked earlier this morning by way of a seemingly accidental listing on Microsoft’s Xbox website, which likely prompted EA to make the official announcement, had that not already been the plan.

The store listing itself has the tag “Pilots wanted”, making it rather suggestive of a starfighter game between that and the cover image. Said image features a Rebel pilot and an Imperial Tie-Fighter pilot, which may also suggest that players will be able to complete missions on either side of the struggle.

As noted by EA’s recent tweet, the reveal trailer for Star Wars: Squadrons is slated for Monday, June 1th at 8:00 AM PT. While not much else is currently known about the title, this could in fact be the Project Maverick we reported on earlier this year. As such, Star Wars: Squadrons could be an EA Motive project, with the studio having worked previously on the enjoyable single-player campaign for Star Wars: Battlefront 2. Thankfully, it’ll only be a few more days until we get our hands on the official trailer.
