Star Wars: Squadrons Debuts Stunning ‘Hunted’ CG Short Film (VIDEO)

Star Wars: Squadrons

Readying for release next month, Star Wars: Squadrons is nearly set to deliver another action-packed adventure in the galaxy far, far, away. Based on what we’ve seen so far, EA Motive looks to be letting loose an interesting story-based space combat title that portrays each side of the fight between the Rebels and the Empire following the end of the Original Trilogy. Ahead of the approaching release, publisher EA has now revealed a new CG-animated short film demonstrating the intense conflict and battle sequences that will be featured in the game.

Debuting on YouTube, a short film titled ‘Hunted’ depicts a huge space battle at Var-Shaa, with the narrative focused on Imperial Squadron Leader Varko Grey as he’s left behind by the remainder of his fleet. What ensues is a thrilling battle for survival that begins on the galactic battlefield and spans all the way down to the planet below. As per the video’s description: “The Empire’s retreat after a surprise attack marks yet another stumble in the wake of the second Death Star’s destruction. But for one member of Titan Squadron, the battle is far from over.” Check it out below.

This incredible look at Star Wars: Squadrons is sure to be a treat for those looking to pilot-up or simply Star Wars fans in general. While Motive Studios has demonstrated its skill with crafting quality gameplay, this new short film’s stunning presentation is particularly owed to Motive’s collaboration with Lucasfilm and ILM – the production houses responsible for the Star Wars films. As a bonus, EA has now included the New Republic X-Wing and Imperial TIE Interceptor ships featured in ‘Hunted’ as cosmetic items for those that pre-order the game.

Star Wars: Squadrons releases for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 2nd and features support for PSVR and Steam VR.
