Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Finally Reveals Why Stormtroopers Have Terrible Aim
Anyone that’s watched any of the Star Wars movies or parts of the animated series will have likely, at some point, wondered why Stormtroopers absolutely suck at hitting what they aim at. There has of course been a ton of speculation as to why this is, with many of the fan base citing reasons like poor helmet design and a notable lack of iron sights on blasters. Still, neither Disney or Lucasfilm has ever come forward with a genuine, canonical reason behind what is surely one of the great mysteries of our time. Thankfully, it looks like that is all about to change thanks to Respawn Entertainment’s recently released Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Please proceed with caution, as there are light Jedi Fallen Order spoilers ahead.
During Cal’s travels on the planet Zeffo, the Jedi will at one point run into a group of Stormtroopers posted on a cliff looking over a great expanse. Some of the dialogue that plays while Cal is unnoticed strongly implies that the topic of the discussion is the reason why the soldiers have issues with aiming. One of the Stormtroopers begins to complain about his current physical condition, stating that his posture – and subsequently, his aim with his weapon – has degraded due to the poor quality of rations being given to him by the Empire. He even goes as far as saying something along the lines of “Don’t blame me if my aim is bad, it isn’t my fault!”
This of course can segue a little deeper into how terrible of an employer the Empire actually is. Between poor rations and the fact that the Stormtroopers are subjected to mental conditioning – something we saw firsthand with Finn in The Force Awakens – it’s honestly a miracle that a Stormtrooper was able to wing Leia in Return of the Jedi. All that aside, I’m still getting my ass kicked in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, so I guess they’re doing something right.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
