Star Wars IX: The Rise Of Skywalker Teaser Trailer Revealed (VIDEO)
It has been quite the long road since the first opening scenes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, though the ending of the epic saga is finally in sight with the very first footage for Episode IX. Now known to be Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Lucasfilm released a teaser trailer today during a panel at star Wars Celebration that should get fans of the series extremely excited for this coming December. Check out the epic trailer below:
Directed by J.J. Abrams, the film takes place at some point after the events of Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi, which saw the deaths of both Luke Skywalker and the leader of the First Order, Supreme Leader Snoke. The cast is certainly an impressive one, bringing together Mark Hamill (presumably as Luke’s Force ghost), Carrie Fisher through previously shot footage from The Last Jedi, as well as Billy Dee Williams, who is reprising his role as Lando Calrissian from the original trilogy.
Other returning actors include Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Domhnall Gleeson, Billie Lourd, and Anthony Daniels, all of whom are back in their respective roles. One interesting thing to note is that towards the end of the teaser trailer, after Hamill’s line of “No one’s ever really gone,” the iconic cackle of Emperor Palpatine’s voice can be heard in voiceover. To slam the point home, Palpatine actor Ian McDiarmid appeared onstage after the trailer was shown during the panel, much to the excitement of those in attendance.
With the first official teaser having finally been released, it shouldn’t be too long of a wait until we learn more details about the last entry in the new trilogy. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker arrives in theaters on December 20th, 2019.
