Star Trek 4 Talks Fall Through With Chris Pine And Chris Hemsworth
For three movies Chris Pine has cemented himself as the one and one Captain Kirk of the USS Enterprise within the rebooted Star Trek movies. This might all change however as both he and Chris Hemsworth who played Kirk’s father in the first film may possibly walk away from the upcoming film, Star Trek 4.
The two A-list actors were in negotiations to star in the next installment of the Star Trek franchise however according to a recent report from the Hollywood Reporter, it seems that talks have fallen through between the two and the companies in charge of making the film, Paramount Pictures and Skydance Media. While the deals with other actors such as Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg and John Cho are expected to close as normal,it appears as though Pine and Hemsworth had some issues with pre-existing monetary deals.
HR indicates that both actors insist that there were existing deals in place and that the studios are reneging on them by forcing the duo to take pay cuts following a failure to meet previous box office goals. The studio however continues to hold firm on their stance concerning the films budget and actor pay.
Even with the possibility of not having both Pine and Hemsworth reprise their roles, the movie will continue to stay a priority and will not be put on hold. Whether or not the studios will try to find replacements for the Kirks or they’ll attempt to find a way to get Pine and Hemsworth back into the film is uncertain at this time. Neither the actors or the companies involved were willing to comment.
