Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher Arrives In Ghost Recon: Breakpoint Next Week (VIDEO)

Splinter Cell Sam Fisher Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

It was only days ago when Ubisoft unveiled the return of a long lost franchise in the form of a new Prince of Persia-themed event for crossover brawler For Honor. Now it appears that another series is once again stepping out of the shadows with the announcement of a Splinter Cell return in Ton Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint.

Revealing a new adventure titled ‘Deep State’ (H/T Prima Games), a new teaser trailer saw character Sam Fisher return to drop a few lines regarding what’s in store for players on March 24th. Referring to the game’s Auroa setting as “a real shit-show,” the Splinter Cell protagonist makes reference to the Ghosts’ previous run-in with the Terminator before announcing his imminent arrival on the island. “Something needs to be done about all this before there’s nothing left but Ghosts and shadows,” Fisher teased. Check out the footage below.

As of now, it’s unknown how the stealth-oriented Sam Fisher is planned to be implemented in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, but more information is set to be unveiled in the next few days’ time. While this is the first that Splinter Cell has crossed over with this particular Tom Clancy title, the series had previously done so with Ghost Recon: Wildlands back in 2018. The collaboration was certainly a surprise, not only marking the espionage title’s return to the spotlight but also for its notable homecoming of Fisher’s voice actor Michael Ironside.

Though this Splitter Cell crossover is significantly less than what fans may have wanted for Sam Fisher’s comeback, it does show that Ubisoft is still interested in giving the series some kind of recognition. The publisher has been dropping hints of a Splinter Cell resurgence for years at this point, more recently with a mysterious post on social media as well as with the rehiring of former series director Maxime Beland earlier this year. If a full-scale return is indeed in the works, this feature in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint could be the next step in that direction.

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

What do you think? Are you excited about this new Splinter Cell crossover in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, or were you hoping for a standalone game for Sam Fisher?
