SoulCalibur VI Introduces The Witcher’s Geralt With Behind The Scenes Showcase (VIDEO)

The fact that The Witcher‘s Geralt of Rivia was leaving his respective universe for the very first time was big enough news as it were. When it was first announced, long-time fans of the series piped up with all sorts of ideas. Several suggested CD Projekt Red may be collaborating with Bandai Namco‘s SoulCalibur VI and luckily, they were right on the mark.

To those unfamiliar with this iconic character, both companies came together and created a “behind-the-scenes” video to bring some insight on how Geralt will play in the fighting game. The team tried to incorporate as many elements from The Witcher as possible by including Signs, classic skills and movements, and support items like potions and blade oils. Check it out:

Geralt is a master swordsman, alchemist, and a lesser mage – all of which are aspects that will be present in SoulCalibur VI. To bring some insight on how he will play, CDPR director, Borys Pugacz Muraszkiewicz, described him as so:

Who is Geralt of Rivia? Geralt is a Witcher. A member of a cast of professional monster slayers, monsters hunters. A master swordsman, a spinner, a roller, an acrobat with superhuman strength, speed, and reflexes. He’s also a bit of an alchemist with potions, blade oils, and his bombs and also a minor or lesser mage with his Witcher signs. Signs are spells devised specifically for use in combat, providing the kind of effects that stand to support Geralt’s fighting style because when Geralt fights, precision is the thing. He’s not a scrappy brawler, he’s like a scalpel in combat.”

As for how Geralt may have landed himself in this universe, Pugacz Muraszkiewicz said that his time in SoulCalibur VI could be an “extension of the inter-dimensional travel he did in The Witcher 3”.

SoulCalibur VI is expected to release sometime in 2018. An exact release date has not been confirmed yet.
