Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Movie Trailer Premieres (VIDEO)
Hollywood is certainly not hurting for film and television adaptations of popular video game franchises. Detective Pikachu successfully found a way to bring Pokemon to the big screen, and Illumination is looking to bring Super Mario to life on screen in a way that doesn’t upset fans. Sonic the Hedgehog proved successful in adapting to cinemas as well, with his first film being one of the only hit theatrical movies of 2020. Now, Sega and Paramount Pictures have unveiled the first Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie trailer, and this time, more characters from the game are riding along for the fun.
Paramount Pictures has released the new Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie trailer on their official YouTube channel, after it made its premiere during The Game Awards 2021. The sequel follows Sonic, who now acts as a sort of vigilante that fights crime after having defeated Dr. Eggman, but not before snacking on an iconic chili dog. However, it seems that Dr. Eggman (with Jim Carrey reprising the role now with a shaved head and large mustache as the character wears in the games) will return from his alternate dimension prison and use his technology for mayhem again.
Luckily, Sonic will not be fighting him alone this time. Tails will have a significant role in the sequel (with Colleen O’Shaughnessey reprising the role after having done it in numerous games) and is seen flying a bi-plane with Sonic. Eggman appears ready for the re-match though, as he now is revealed to have given power to Knuckles the Echidna, who now appears voiced by none other than Idris Elba. Now that the big trio of Sonic characters are finally on-screen together, it is going to be quite a throwdown. Definitely gotta go fast to theaters when it releases on April 8th next year.
