Shin Megami Tensei 5 Confirmed For Western Release On Nintendo Switch (VIDEO)
The latest installment of the praised Japanese RPG series titled appropriately as Shin Megami Tensei 5 is heading to the West on the Nintendo Switch. Surprisingly, before confirmation of a release date in Japan, Atlus has revealed that the upcoming title will be making it to North America and fans couldn’t be more thrilled. Often times, worldwide releases don’t happen and though that may still be the case, Japanese released games typically see a delayed announcement for an English port. Safe to say, this is as good as it gets. To start the news off just right, the developer has released an announcement video to break the exciting news:
As usual, the atmosphere is dark and sets the foundation for another inspiring addition to the series. Set in present day Tokyo, Shin Megami Tensei 5 will have players “face a new onslaught of demons” taking over the world. “All the fountains of the great deep broke up and the window of heaven were opened,” reads the trailer. “In this lightless age of corruption, we long for the dawn of a new messiah.”
The announcement video above features real in-game footage as well, but disclaims that it is still in stages of development. Since the last game in the series was a Nintendo 3DS exclusive release, it’s no wonder Atlus has chosen to release the next installment on the hybrid console. Whether fans take it on the go or enjoy it at home, this platform was created for whatever direction developers choose.
