Sea of Thieves “The Arena” PvP Mode Arriving In Early 2019 (VIDEO)
This weekend, Microsoft held its X018 event, which saw the reveal of countless Xbox One-related announcements and the increased library of both Xbox Game Pass titles, and Xbox One backwards compatible games. Rare was also in attendance, and the developer shared some interesting news for its popular seafaring title Sea of Thieves. They announced that Sea of Thieves will be getting a new PvP mode called “The Arena” which is set to debut early next year. Check out the reveal trailer for “The Arena” below:
As seen in the trailer, the upcoming Sea of Thieves mode “The Arena” will have players competing in races to obtain treasure. As it is a PvP mode, players will inevitably come across other human players and will have to fight them. A new tavern will be the hub for the competitive mode, and as such players will have to travel there to queue up for The Arena. Additionally, there will also be a new trading company called The Sea Dogs, which will be the player’s source for PvP rewards, as well as achievements.
Rare unfortunately hasn’t said much else about the new mode, though information should be a bit more forthcoming as we get closer to 2019. In the meantime, players can keep themselves busy with the previously released Forsaken Shores expansion, as well as the Shrouded Spoils expansion that will be arriving at some point in the future.
Sea of Thieves is now available for PC and Xbox One.
