Rocket League’s Autumn Update Adds Player Banners, New Items, and More (VIDEO)
With summer almost fully behind us we can finally start embracing the things that make fall amazing: pumpkin spice everything, hoodies, and (just go with it) Rocket League’s Autumn Update! Developer Psyonix’s smash hit soccer-with-cars game is getting a gigantic update later this month that introduces a new seasonal arena, new items, player banners, and much more. Check out Rocket League’s Autumn Update trailer here for a sneak peek of what’s coming:
First and foremost, the update – arriving September 28 – adds the new seasonal arena, titled Farmstead. An autumn-themed map set in the middle of a – you guessed it – farm, Farmstead will be available for Competitive, Casual, and Private matches once the 28th rolls around, though the map will only be available for a limited time. The end date for Farmstead’s availability is currently unknown. Check out the gallery below for a few pictures of Farmstead.
Rocket League’s Autumn Update also introduces “Standardized Arena” versions of the Starbase Arc and Wasteland, though the classic versions will still be available for both Private and offline matches. Psyonix is also introducing some Call of Duty flavor to the game in the form of customizable player banners, which will appear during goal replays and on the post-game celebration screen. Additionally, the Autumn Update also implements 90 new items for players to collect, including new toppers, antennas, and boosts.
Lastly, the update also implements a few long-awaited quality of life features, namely transparent goalposts. Even when utilizing “ball cam,” it can been difficult for goalies to locate the ball if it isn’t towards the center of the playing field, so transparent goalposts should make for less “oops” moments. The PC version of Rocket League is also receiving LAN support, and PC players will get a chance to beta test the new feature once the update arrives on September 28.
