Rick And Morty Vs. Dungeons & Dragons Comic Series Arriving Soon

Rick and Morty vs Dungeons & Dragons

The Rick and Morty fandom continues to grow, despite the long wait fans will still have to endure until the next season premieres. With an increasingly passionate fanbase naturally comes more merchandising opportunities to be had. Earlier this year, IDW Publishing and Oni Press announced that they would be releasing a crossover Rick and Morty vs Dungeons & Dragons comic series that officially bridges the two nerd-favorite franchises. Now, it seems that the wait for this particular event is nearly over, as the first issue has been scheduled for release later this week.

Virginia-based comic book shop Local Heroes has confirmed on their official Facebook page that the first issue of the Rick and Morty vs Dungeons & Dragons crossover comic is set to release this Wednesday. Some lucky GenCon attendees recently got access to a sneak preview edition of the first issue, but this will be the first wide public release for the crossover. The plot will see the tabletop gaming classic become suddenly popular with Morty’s classmates, which will cause him to seek Rick’s help in learning how to play the game. However, Rick’s interdimensional capabilities will bring the duo to an all too real version of the DnD world.

The first issue will be the first of four, and will sell for $3.99 on Wednesday, August 29th. Previews of the comic have shown that their take on the Rick and Morty universe will stay true to the series’ warped sense of humor. Hopefully the crossover is a success and leads to more of such crossing of worlds for the series, both in comics and on the show. After all, who wouldn’t want to see Scary Terry meet Freddie Kruger?
