Resident Evil Remake Of The Remake “Wouldn’t Be Laughable,” Says Capcom
With technology advancing so much in recent years, it’s completely understandable that remakes and remasters have become the in thing. It gives developers not only a chance to cash in on fan-favorites from yesteryear, but also provides an updated version of said favorites for new and old audiences. That said, Capcom has been all about the remake hype, and now that Resident Evil 2 is in the air, the developer isn’t against considering the remake of the Resident Evil remake.
As many of you might know by now, Capcom isn’t exactly considering the upcoming Resident Evil 2 a “remake.” However, their rehashing of the original Resident Evil might be remade once more, leading many to wonder if they will become caught in some sort of remake paradox, continuously remaking the same two games over and over again. Actually, nobody is wondering that. In any case, director Kazunori Kadoi recently spoke with Game Informer, stating that a remake of the Resident Evil remake isn’t exactly out of the question.
“We’ve got a lot of fans who ask for their favorite games, but we’re not going to commit to anything right now,” Kadoi said “We’d like to keep our possibilities open for the future and see what makes the most sense when we come to it. We don’t want to feed just nostalgia. We want to bring [out] how people felt about the original games and if we can, reimagine it in a way so that it bridges the generation gap between people who played it 20 years ago and newcomers.”
To be fair, the Resident Evil remake arrived 16 years ago for the Nintendo Gamecube. Remaking the remake isn’t entirely outlandish. “Certainly enough time has passed that it wouldn’t be laughable to remake the remake,” said Kadoi. “I personally think that would be an interesting thing to do.”
In the meantime, Resident Evil 2 is set to arrive on January 25, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
