Resident Evil 8 Retail Listing Pitches Game As The “Darkest And Cruelest Part” Of The Series
We’ve been hearing quite a lot of unofficial Resident Evil 8 news recently, with some of the more recent rumors suggesting that the new survival horror title will be the darkest and most gruesome entry in the series yet. Now, a new retail listing for the title has potentially shed some further light on Resident Evil 8, with some of the wording found in said listing corroborating some of the game’s earlier leaks.
As reported by Prima Games, a retail listing for Resident Evil 8 has surfaced on German retailer “GamesOnly” that calls the next game Resident Evil: Village, with the first three letters in Village meant to be a play on the Roman numerals for the number 8. Check it out below:

As mentioned, the listing itself has some interesting wording, with the retailer describing the game as the “darkest and cruelest addition to the franchise.” Adding some further fuel to the fire is the timing. We have officially passed the original date for the PlayStation 5 game reveal event, with Sony announcing today that the new date for the event is now June 11th. It’s quite possible that Resident Evil 8 will make a showing at the event, as previous leaks have suggested that the Capcom survival horror game will be cross-generational. This goes along with a recent post by well-known industry insider Dusk Golem, who just tweeted out that they are “pretty positive” that Resident Evil 8 will be shown at the upcoming event.
100% positive? No, but I had heard hours before the Sony announcement today that RE8 would be at the event, and there’s public stirrings from Capcom if you’re paying attention, so I’m pretty positive.

Thankfully, we’re just a few short days away from the Sony event, so if we’re getting anymore RE8 news in the near future, it’ll likely happen then.
