Remedy’s Control Is Now Available On Nintendo Switch As Cloud Version (VIDEO)

Control Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch has only strengthened its position in the video game market this year, and a big part of that has been its support from developers bringing their games to the device. One third-party game that many did not expect to see come to the Switch has been Remedy Entertainment’s Control, which wowed fans last year with its advanced and stunning presentation. With the release of Control: Ultimate Edition for the next generation of consoles, surprisingly, it seems that a Control Nintendo Switch version is actually available now, although with a technical caveat.

Nintendo and Remedy Entertainment announced the new Control Nintendo Switch version during the Nintendo Direct Mini on the official Nintendo YouTube channel earlier this week that showcased third party games for the Switch. Amazingly, the game is indeed the same Control: Ultimate Edition version of the game that is coming to next-gen consoles next month and is already available on the Nintendo eShop. However, the big concession is that it is only playable on the Nintendo Switch through cloud streaming, meaning the full game will not be downloaded to the user’s device or available in a physical copy. To use this service, Switch owners will need a Nintendo Account, as well as a stable internet connection.

Players will be able to check if their internet connection can handle cloud streaming the Control Nintendo Switch version upon purchase of the game. A launcher application runs a five-minute demo of the game to see if it runs properly before the final checkout of the $39.99 Access Pass commences. The same Nintendo Direct Mini also confirmed Hitman 3 would be available for play through a cloud streaming process as well. While some players may have trouble getting their internet to handle such a heavy stream, at least some Switch players will be able to enjoy Control on the handheld device. After all, isn’t Control over their universe what everyone wants?
