Dreamfall Chapters Release Date for PS4, Xbox One Revealed (VIDEO)

Dreamfall Chapters

Dreamfall Chapters is the long awaited episodic sequel to the saga that is The Longest Journey. The first game in the series, The Longest Journey, was released in 1999 and was met with acclaim. Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, sequel to the ’99 hit, was released in 2006, and was also met with praise. Both of these titles were developed by Funcom and published by Empire Interactive. In October 2014, a highly anticipated sequel was released for PC, developed by Red Thread Games and published by Deep Silver. Over the next two years, Dreamfall Chapters went on to release five episodes for the game, the last one being released in June 2016. However, this left our console brothers and sisters left out in the cold, which is just not cool. That won’t be for much longer as the date when it will be arriving on PS4 and Xbox One has been revealed.

That’s right, console gamers! You will finally be able to get your hands on the latest sequel in the incredible The Longest Journey saga on March 24, 2017! That may seem like quite some time to wait, so to make the pot a little bit sweeter, Red Thread Games has put together an enhanced edition for you to enjoy, complete with enhanced graphics, animations, sounds, and music. Plus, you’ll be getting some “really cool” extra features. At least, that’s what Red Thread Games says. Don’t worry, PC gamers, there will be an upgraded version for you, as well.

Dreamfall Chapters will see you split your time between Zoë Castillo and Kian Alvane. Players, at least those of you who are awaiting the console release of the game, will be continuing on your journeys throughout Stark, the future cyperpunk world, and the past magical realm, Arcadia. Dreamfall Chapters was crowd-funded by a Kickstarter campaign, and received over $1.5 million, with additional funding coming from the Norwegian Film Institute. In the announcement trailer below, Zoë says, “Some stories simply…stop.” It may be safe to say that this incredible story refuses to stop.

What do you think, gamers? How many of you have been been patiently, and not so patiently, awaiting the console release of Dreamfall Chapters? Sound off in the comments below and let us know how you feel! Speaking of feelings, it’s safe to assume that Guillermo del Toro has some strong ones towards Konami. That man does not mince words!
