PUBG Snow Map Vikendi Releases On Console Test Servers

PUBG Reveals Snow Map 'Vikendi' At The Game Awards (VIDEO)

Just a few days ago, the brand new snowy PUBG map called VIkendi officially hit the live servers for the PC platform. The new map splits the difference in size between the larger Erangel and Miramar maps and the smaller, more action-heavy Sanhok map, while also introducing the new feature of tracking your opponents through the snow. Although there is typically a lengthy amount of time between when the new map hits the live PC servers and when it trickles down to the other console platforms, PUBG Corp has announced that the new map has released onto the test servers for both PS4 and Xbox One.

The news comes by way of the official PUBG Twitter account, which announced that Vikendi was now available on console PTS. The latest update to the PTS also comes with a breakdown of what players can expect when testing out the new map, which can be seen below:

  • Vikendi is 6x6km map. The gameplay of Vikendi is quicker than Erangel and Miramar, but offers an arguably more tactical experience than Sanhok.
  • Players can throw snowballs while waiting to board the plane in the starting area
  • Vehicles will be more slippery in snow or icy areas. Acceleration on icy terrain is slow and you lose more general vehicle control as you speed up
  • Footprints and vehicle tracks will appear as players travel in snow-covered areas. Keep an eye out! These are great to help identify if enemies have passed by recently
  • Keep in mind that footprints and tracks in the snow don’t stay around forever!

It is currently unknown when the new map is expected to hit the console live servers, though it shouldn’t take too long now that Vikendi is on the PTR. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
