Custom PS5 Faceplates Revealed By dbrand, Coming Next Year

Last month, dbrand announced that they would be cancelling and refunding all PS5 skin pre-orders. Mostly because the application process was beyond frustrating and they noticed most of their customers couldn’t get it right. In dbrand’s words: “…the vast majority of you assholes can’t apply it properly.” Instead, they wanted to create something that was less of a hassle for everybody involved – custom faceplates.

Reconsidering their approach to console’s controversial exterior, dbrand revealed a matte black custom faceplate for those looking to dress it up a bit. It’s matte black perfection. Check it out:

According to dbrand, they’ll soon be moving the custom Ps5 faceplates into production soon. With some snarky shade at CD Projekt Red, they said: “We’ll be entering mass production on PS5 Faceplates by year’s end. However, we won’t be accepting orders until we have stock at our Toronto HQ, ready to ship. If CD Projekt RED has taught us anything, it’s that selling products before they’re finished is a bad idea.”

Due to the unbelievably high demand of the PS5, the company anticipates that the faceplates will sell out at launch. However, they hope to make this a permanent product in their lineup. So, for those hoping to get their hands on their own faceplate for their Sony console – you may have to wait, but they’ll restock as soon as possible.

“If you’re among the millions of humans who didn’t get a PS5 for Christmas, stay calm when you see these go out-of-stock,” they reassured interested customers. “We anticipate that the demand will outpace supply at launch, but rest assured Faceplates will be a permanent fixture in our portfolio.”

Since dbrand is creating third-party paraphernalia – there’s always the possibility of larger companies taking legal action against them. With that said, they certainly have the fighting spirit to challenge it. Captioning the feature image of their Reddit post reads: “Sue us, Sony.”

Gutsy.
